Owen McCormick Owner / President
Great grandson of the original founder, Joseph McCormick, Owen became the sole owner of Joseph McCormick Construction Co., Inc. in 1999 with the buyout of his father and brothers. Under his exclusive leadership the company has flourished into a profitable, well respected heavy highway construction company. A well respected community leader himself, Owen is an active board member with numerous civic organizations. His unique management style generates respect and dedication from his employees and customers alike.
Bob Gwinn Vice President
Bob brought 10 years experience in civil engineering and management with him to McCormick Construction in 1994. In 1999 he accepted the position of Vice President and now with over 20 years experience, oversees all company operations from project bidding, job management, asphalt plant operations, and equipment maintenance. Bob still bids the majority of all jobs and is still an active project manager overseeing projects of all sizes. He is the exclusive contact for many of the company’s top customers and commands respect from state and municipal officials, customers and employees.
Joe Hosey Project Manager
Hired to oversee a major site development project on upper Peach Street in 1997, Joe has become a major asset to the company. He currently manages many large projects each season and is responsible for a large percentage of all project bidding. Joe works closely with customers, state inspectors, subcontractors, and the field superintendent and foremen to insure timely contract completion and quality workmanship. He also has developed a strong working relationship with state and municipal officials as well as customers and our employees.
Art Fischer Field Superintendent
Art became an important part of the McCormick team in 2004 bringing with him 34 years of experience in all phases of heavy and highway construction. Art oversees all work done on all projects, working daily with each foreman and project manager to insure the performance of quality work while adhering to the contract requirements.
Kathy Claunch Asphalt Plant Manager
Kathy joined JMC in 1996 as a roller operator. In 1997 she accepted the position of plant operator/manager. Under her management the asphalt plant has become an efficient and profitable division of the company. Kathy has become highly respected by state and local officials for her expertise and adherence to quality control and production of quality asphalt mixes.
Brenda Burt Corporate Secretary
Brenda is considered the backbone of the company by most in the company and many in the Erie community. Brenda not only serves as corporate secretary but is also personal assistant to Owen McCormick, provides notary services and is part of the accounting staff. Brenda’s quiet efficiency keeps everyone at JMC organized and running smoothly. She has been a full time employee of the company since 1993 and has been affiliated with the company in various capacities for over 20 years.
